We did something a bit different at the centre during one of our playschemes a couple of years ago… smoothie making, but with a fun twist!
Instead of just pressing a button, our young people had to power the blender themselves, by riding a bike!
After picking their fruit and loading it all in, it was time to hop on and start pedalling. The faster they went, the quicker the smoothie blended and there were plenty of laughs (and a bit of competition!) along the way.
Everyone got involved, taking turns, cheering each other on, and giving it a go. It was one of those sessions where it didn’t feel like “exercise”, just a bit of fun that got everyone moving without even realising it.
And of course, the best part… enjoying the smoothies at the end!
It’s activities like this that we love, something a little different, a bit active and a chance for young people to try something new, have a laugh and just enjoy themselves.
