Our Skipton Residential Trips

Every year, our residential trips to Skipton become some of the most memorable experiences for the young people who attend.

For many of the children and young people we support, these trips are a chance to step away from the busy day-to-day for a little while, try new things, and just enjoy being young people in a safe and positive environment.

From exploring the countryside and spending time outdoors, to swimming in the outdoor pool, and spending time feeding and looking after the animals, the trips are packed with experiences that many of the children may not usually get the opportunity to enjoy.

But it’s about much more than just the activities.

Trips like this help young people build confidence, independence, friendships and trust. Being away together gives them the chance to form really positive relationships with both staff and each other in a relaxed environment, away from the pressures of everyday life.

Something as simple as being able to play safely outside, laugh together and experience somewhere different can have a huge impact.

You can really see the difference over the weekend… friendships grow stronger, quieter children come out of their shells, and everyone becomes more connected as a group.

For the wider community, these trips are important too. They help create positive experiences, happy memories, and opportunities that young people carry with them long after the weekend ends.

At Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre, we believe every child deserves the chance to feel included, supported, and able to enjoy experiences like these and our Skipton trips are a big part of that!
