There’s nothing more exciting than Halloween! Superheroes, witches, and ghosts gather in the streets, but even though it’s a night for creativity and goodies, it’s crucial to ensure everyone’s safety while having fun.

At Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre, we care about your wellbeing, so we’ve put together some friendly reminders to help make this Halloween both fun and worry-free.
Plan your route together before you go and stay on well-travelled, well-lit streets. If you’re going as a group, keep little ones close and make sure an adult is always nearby. For older children heading out with friends, it’s a good idea to set a time for them to be home and remind them to stay together.
As the nights draw in, visibility becomes really important. Try to include something bright or reflective in costumes, a glow stick, torch, or even a bit of reflective tape can make a big difference. Carrying a small torch also helps everyone stay safe while walking along darker paths.
It’s always tempting to tuck into those sweets straight away, but remind children to wait until they’re home before eating anything. You can turn it into a little family tradition, check the treats together first and then enjoy them once you know they’re safe.
Halloween is also about kindness and community. Not every house celebrates, and that’s okay, look out for homes with decorations or lights on, and skip those that don’t. It helps make the night fun and respectful for everyone.
Above all, don’t forget to have fun. The greatest memories come from spending quality time together, whether you’re trick-or-treating, watching a scary movie, or throwing a little get-together at home, make sure you enjoy it.
From everyone at Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre, we hope you have a fun, safe, and spooky Halloween full of smiles, not scares! 🎃
