There’s something really special about seeing a garden full of tents and hearing nothing but laughter all evening. That’s exactly what our Big Camp Out was all about.
Our 11+ youth group spent the night camping in the garden at Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre, and it was brilliant to see everyone getting stuck in from the moment the tents went up.
We spent the evening around the campfire telling ghost stories, sang along to karaoke, danced at the outdoor disco and made sure there were plenty of snacks to keep everyone going. It was one of those nights where everyone was smiling, laughing and just enjoying being together.
The best part was watching friendships grow. Some of the young people were chatting, playing games and making memories that we’re sure they’ll be talking about for a long time.
Creating opportunities like this is a big part of what we do. We want young people to have experiences they can look forward to, try something different and spend time with friends in a place where they feel safe, welcome and able to be themselves.
A huge thank you goes to our staff and volunteers, who gave up their evening (and a night’s sleep!) to make sure everything ran smoothly. Their time, energy and enthusiasm are what make events like this possible.
And thank you to every young person who came along and made the night what it was. You brought the fun, the laughter and the brilliant atmosphere that made it such a success.
